This week saw Communities Secretary Steve Reed, announce a £61m Community Right to Buy Fund aimed at saving treasured community assets from closure. The fund builds upon the Government’s Pride of Place Initiative and is part of a series of reforms designed by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government, including;
· Streamlining the Right to Manage
· Test and Learn Funding
· Community Power Pilots
· Commitment to Tackling Profiteering
· Commitment to support better use of local data
With a focus on deprived areas, we understand the Community Right to Buy Fund will concentrate on putting more power into the hands of local communities. Further details about the application process and associated criteria are to be released, and we at Underwood Consulting will be keeping a lookout to see how communities in the East of England may benefit. In the meantime, if you have a community asset you’re keen to save, then call us to see how we can help. Be it support with a feasibility study, creating a capital appeal strategy, or developing a case for support, we would love to be a part of your community project!
